The South Hamilton School Board and search consultant recently met to conduct screening interviews with eight semi-finalists. During the virtual screening interviews, the board asked each candidate nine questions to further identify their fit for the job. Based on their references and screening interviews three candidates have been chosen as finalists.
Brian Wall – Mr. Wall has served the IKM-Mannnig School District since 1989. He started his career as a high school math teacher and coach. He has served as the secondary principal since 1999. Some notable accomplishments during his tenure have been initiating an advisee program and expanding mental health programs for students. He has also been a School Administrators of Iowa mentor for new principals. He was named 2014 Iowa Association of Student Council Administrator of the Year.
Curt Rheingans – Mr. Rheingans currently serves as the Superintendent at Creston Consolidated School District in Illinois. He has served in this capacity the last four years. His prior experience includes serving the North Scott (IA) School District where he was an Elementary Principal, Special Education Director and Director of Operations. A few highlights from his career include improving the financial condition of his district, implementing a new reading curriculum, developing Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) and drafting a five-year facilities plan.
Heather Holm – Mrs. Holm is the Secondary Principal for North Butler Schools in Greene, IA. She has also served the district as School Improvement Coordinator, Equity Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator and Technology Coordinator. Her teaching experience includes serving as a Spanish teacher and English as a Second Language instructor. Heather was instrumental in multiple initiatives including PBIS, Project Lead The Way, and gifted programming. She also helped organize multiple opportunities for staff, such as attendance at 1:1 conferences and exposure to national speakers.
These finalists will interview with multiple interview teams on Wednesday, March 31st in the district. The schedule will also include a tour of district facilities. Stakeholders invited to interview the candidates will have access to the candidates’ full applications and be asked for feedback on the formal interview questions.
The school board will meet on the evening of March 31st to review the feedback from the interview teams. The board hopes to publicly name a new superintendent soon after. The new district leader will then begin the transitioning process with current Superintendent Dr. Ken Howard.
