Deborah Witte Memorial Scholarship

Deborah Witte, long time teacher in the South Hamilton CSD, passed away in 2011. Her estate provided money to the South Hamilton School District Foundation for a scholarship to be given each year to one South Hamilton graduate majoring in education.

This year’s scholarship recipient is Nicole Vincent who is a 2018 graduate of South Hamilton School. Nicole will be finishing her degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Endorsement at University of Iowa in December 2021, hoping then to obtain a full time elementary school teaching position in the fall of 2022.

Nicole Vincent will be receiving an endowed scholarship in the amount of $5230.03.

The South Hamilton School District Foundation established the following requirements for this scholarship:
● All applicants must be a South Hamilton graduate and attending or graduated from a post-secondary school.
● All applicants must be within one year before or after receiving a bachelor’s degree.
● Degree must be in elementary or secondary education (PreK-12th Grade).
● Scholarship may not be used for postgraduate work including a non-education second career, master’s degree, doctorate degree, or research project.

The South Hamilton School District Foundation was formed in 1994. The Foundation’s purpose is to maintain, develop, increase, and extend the facilities and services of the South Hamilton Community School District and to provide broader educational service opportunities to its students, staff, faculty, and to the residents of the district. Current board members include Kristi Busch, Justin Deppe, Kelly Feaker, Mindy Harris, Dave Kruger, Kristy Luppes, Dan Scarrow, and Garren Zanker.
